Calling all Rockstar Educators! After School Film & Media Creative Teachers needed immediately!
Rate: Roughly $70-100/hour
Start Date: Immediate, trainings to commence right away via zoom. Must be available to begin teaching in the classroom January 2 onward, long term and full-time opportunities for the right candidate.
Location: Classes hosted in schools throughout Greater Boston, and Boston Proper area: Newton, Cambridge, Wellesley, Somerville, Everett and more. Must be willing to travel to different class locations throughout the week.
About Us: The CK after school program is a hands on maker experience designed to provide children with the opportunity to explore the art of film, media arts, and animation through experimentation and play. Children have the opportunity to build, create, act, design props, explore storytelling, utilize technology, and most importantly express oneself creatively.
We are seeking versatile, creative Teaching Artists who can facilitate filmmaking and/or Animation after school classes throughout Boston as well as the Greater Boston area.
Classes include topics like: TV Production, Stop-motion Animation, Filmmaking, Comic Creation, Music Videos, Cooking Show classes, photography, graphic design, and more.
We hope to find someone who can join our team and bring a great deal of excitement, experience, and flexibility to the program.
After school class are offered to elementary-aged and Middle School students. Experience with this age range a MUST.
Schedule: A consistent schedule, 3 to 5 days a week, 1 - 2.5 hours a day in the afternoons from roughly 3 - 5pm. A minimum of 3 days is required.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and/or assist teaching CinemaKidz after school class that teaches the basic tenets of filmmaking, animation, or hands-on media arts to children in grades k through 8.
- Follow along with the curriculum and syllabus for each class, and also bring fresh ideas to the class.
- Flexibility and creativity to add to and further develop programs and curricula for children
- Set up and breakdown materials in preparation for the classes as needed.
- Responsible for for bringing a small duffel bag of materials to/from class, and up-keeping the loaned equipment
- Must be able to comfortably lift roughly 25 pounds, and carry materials up and down stairs
- Stay in communication with management before and after each class, and attend regular zooms and training calls.
- Upload content from each class afterwards onto Google Drive
- Polish up student work after each class while on site
- Complete all projects and edits at the conclusion of the course
- Communicate regularly with CK staff, fill out progress reports and other communication forms as necessary
Experience:
- Must be fully vaccinated
- Must have at least 1+ years experience working with children ages 5 - 15 years old
- Must have solid understanding of filmmaking and/or animation and other creative media arts
- Must be tech savvy, with experience using Mac products and platforms
- Must have smart phone to utilize for communication, time tracking, etc.
- Ability to successfully manage a group of 8-10 children alone
- Must be able to carry materials to and from each class, as well as while one site, and lift up to 25 pounds comfortably
- Experience working in an after school and/or educational setting required
- Must be familiar and very comfortable with various media apps, technology, and cloud based programs, especially Apple products
- Energetic, and positive demeanor, and ability to connect with children
- Must be able to commit to the full semester, and ideally longer term, at a minimum of 6 months. Bonuses and full time opportunities available for the right person
- Must arrive on time, and have a professional demeanor when communicating with clients, families, and students
- Must be able to submit to and pass background checks and forms as provided by the company and school in order to work with children. CORI, SORI, and fingerprinting appointments required
