Due to the company's impressive growth, we are seeking a talented Chief Operating Officer for a newly created role, reporting directly to the President. Reliable Fence Metrowest, a leader in the fence manufacturing industry, is headquartered in Ashland, Massachusetts.
Reliable Fence Metrowest is a family-owned business, incorporated in 1955, and built on a foundation of quality service and craftsmanship. Their dedicated team has established a sound reputation in providing our residential, commercial and municipal clientele with quality fence products and expert workmanship. Our client employs a team of full-time field experts. From the initial concept of a new fence project to the installed product, their team is there to provide expertise every step of the way. The company has a large manufacturing facility where milled parts are transformed into beautiful fences by their experienced and highly skilled woodworkers. Reliable Fence Metrowest works with you, your builder, or your landscape architect to help choose the right fence for your needs.
The ideal candidate will bring at least ten years of experience, with a strong focus on construction project management and business operations and will have spent part of their career supporting a family-run business. Exposure to industry-leading manufacturing processes (Lean/Six Sigma or similar methodologies) is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of operations, ensuring smooth coordination between manufacturing, scheduling, inventory management, and field operations.
- Execute the owners' directives, enhancing productivity, and driving business development efforts.
- Develop and implement a marketing plan to expand the company’s reach by identifying potential new customers and market opportunities through industry research.
- Cultivate relationships with industry partners, associations, and local businesses.
- Be a strategic partner in identifying process improvements, profit improvement opportunities (cost reduction, revenue enhancement), technology optimization, and developing project management strategies to push the business forward.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance work environment.
Job Qualifications:
- Proven experience in operations management, preferably in construction or manufacturing.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to work independently.
- Technology proficiency (ERP systems, Google applications like Microsoft Office, share sites, etc.).
- Proven financial acumen with success managing a P&L strongly preferred. Track record of managing end-to-end financial processes (tied to operations) using Quickbooks or similar financial software required.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate a forklift and perform physically demanding tasks as needed.
- Open and manage facility operations from 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
