The Community Arts Initiative (CAI) Artist Project (AP) is a collaboration between the MFA and twelve after-school community organizations in the Boston area. A Lead Artist guides children through the creation of a collaborative work of art inspired by the Museum’s encyclopedic collection. The completed project is exhibited in the Edward H. Linde Gallery in the Linde Family Wing for Contemporary Art.
The AP Assistant supports the Lead Artist with any miscellaneous tasks required for the production of the completed CAI Artist Project exhibition, and reports to the Manager of the Community Arts Initiative.
Essential Functions
Meet with the AP Lead Artist on a mutually-agreed upon schedule to discuss project needs.
- Assist with the fabrication requests of the AP Lead Artist for exhibit components.
- Must be available between January-May to work on tasks assigned by the AP Lead Artist.
- Scheduled hours are flexible, but are determined by the CAI Artist Project budget and the AP Lead Artist’s preferences. Hours will not exceed 8 hours per day or 17.5 hours per week.
Secondary Functions
Assist with project support including attending related programs, meetings, and events.
- Perform other Artist Project duties as required or directed.
Requirements And Characteristics
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1-6 months of experience in visual or studio arts.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication skills.

Part-Time hourly, under 17.5 hours per week (varies)

$25 per hour
