Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented laboratory technician with a background in molecular biology to support our research laboratory. The successful candidate will assist with routine lab tasks, including protein cloning, expression, purification, and preparation of samples for structural analysis. This role requires familiarity with molecular biology techniques, the ability to follow established protocols, and a commitment to maintaining an organized and efficient lab environment. The successful candidate will work closely with scientists to support ongoing research projects and ensure smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities: - General Laboratory Skills:
- Ensure the lab operates efficiently, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
- Protein Cloning, Expression, and Purification:
- Design and optimize cloning strategies for the expression of recombinant proteins.
- Implement viral vectors to deliver genetic material to targeted cells.
- Execute protein expression in various systems (e.g., bacterial, yeast, mammalian).
- Structural Biology:
- Collaborate with computational biologists to model and predict protein structures.
- Research and Development:
- Identify and pursue new research opportunities in molecular and structural biology.
- Stay current with advancements in the field and integrate new technologies into the lab.
- Project Management:
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines and milestones are met.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including bioinformatics, chemistry, and biophysics.
- Prepare reports and communicate results to stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required:
- BA or BS in Molecular Biology, Structural Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Experience in protein cloning, expression, purification, and structural analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred:
- Experience in protein engineering and design.
- Knowledge of computational tools for structural analysis.
- Familiarity with high-throughput screening methods.
