Job Description Cashier/Line
Basic Function and Responsibility
Responsibilities include calculating, with the use of a register, customer purchases and collect appropriate payment (cash, meal card or credit card). Follows prescribed procedures involving cash handling, use of the register, proper collection, or recording of customer and employee meals. Assists in setting up of food items in service area, stocking supplies, cleaning in service area and dining room as necessary or directed by manager or supervisor. Medium to heavy lifting is required.
Characteristic Duties
- Needs to project friendly, helpful attitude toward customers and contributing to customer satisfaction.
- Prior to the beginning of a meal period, assists setting up condiments, juices, bread and rolls, coffee stations, flatware and tray stations or other assigned tasks.
- Checks cash drawer before starting to ensure proper balance. Checks register to be sure it is set and operating properly as well as other supplies necessary for operation.
- Performs normal cashier duties, ringing in sales and collection of appropriate payment.
- At the end of meal period, logs out register, counts money and gives money drawer and log out report to Lead/Cashier, manager/supervisor.
- Participates in BC?s annual PCI compliance training as well as Data Security.
- When not cashiering, helps set up serving area, restocks, and cleans equipment, dining room tables and chairs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervision Received
Reports to General Manager, Assistant General Manager, and Assistant Managers.
Supervision Exercised
May assist in monitoring other cashiers or student employees.
Hiring Range: $23.65/hr to $24.89/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience. Requirements Qualifications
Education: High School diploma preferred. Additional relevant experience may substitute for education.
Experience: Previous experience is helpful but not necessary. Incumbent can be trained on the job.
Skill: Must be able to read and write English. Must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced operation with a diverse staff. Must have good interpersonal skills. Must be able to lift moderately heavy objects, up to 50 pounds, on an on-going basis.
