POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Program Leader (PL) to join our team as a Director, Senior Director, or Vice President of Program Management, depending on experience. The PL will be responsible for the global leadership, development strategy, and execution of one or more of GlycoEra’s therapeutic programs from discovery through commercialization. This individual will serve as the primary driver of program success, aligning cross-functional efforts and communicating progress to executive leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Strategy & Execution
- Define and drive the overarching global strategy for assigned asset(s), working closely with executive management.
- Lead cross-functional program teams (PT) across research, development, regulatory, manufacturing, commercial, and medical affairs.
- Set clear program vision, milestones, deliverables, and ensure alignment with company goals.
- Oversee program execution, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery across all phases of development.
- Guide development of Target Product Profiles (TPP) and ensure alignment with unmet medical needs and market dynamics.
- Regularly report program status, risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Cross-functional Leadership
- Provide matrix leadership across internal teams, consultants, and external partners to ensure effective collaboration and accountability.
- Foster a culture of ownership, transparency, and proactive problem-solving across project teams.
- Engage with key stakeholders, including KOLs, foundations, collaborators, and regulatory authorities as needed.
Resource, Budget & Risk Management
- Lead program budgeting and resource planning in collaboration with finance and functional heads.
- Monitor variances, mitigate risks, and drive contingency planning.
- Identify, communicate, and resolve key program risks and issues in a timely and proactive manner.
Business Initiatives & Growth
- Support evaluation of in-licensing opportunities, new disease areas, and strategic collaborations.
- Lead feasibility efforts and early diligence on emerging programs or partnership opportunities.
- Contribute to portfolio prioritization and long-term planning.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or MBA).
- Minimum 8-10 years of relevant industry experience in biotech, life sciences, or pharmaceutical development, with demonstrated success leading cross-functional drug development teams.
- Deep understanding of the drug development lifecycle from discovery through regulatory approval.
- Proven ability to lead matrixed teams and drive accountability without direct authority.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Preferred:
- Experience in a startup or early-stage biotech environment, with comfort operating in fast-paced settings.
- Experience in rare diseases, oncology, or immune-related indications.
- PMP certification or formal project management training.
- Direct involvement in filing INDs, NDAs, or BLAs and contributing to one or more product approvals.
- Experience in business development, alliance management, or operationalizing collaborations.
Additional Details:
- This position requires approximately 20-25% travel, including potential international travel.
