As the Vice President of Engineering, you will lead and grow OM1’s global engineering organization, which is at the core of delivering our data-driven healthcare solutions. You will manage a modern cloud-native engineering environment, drive technological excellence, and build a world-class team that delivers exceptional results. This role requires a leader with a strong mix of technical acumen, operational excellence, and people management skills to foster a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture. You will collaborate with product management, business unit leaders, and executive leadership to ensure that OM1 is building the right solutions at high velocity, taking advantage of the latest advances in the industry, especially Generative AI. You will lead a data-driven approach to execution, cultivating a strong Agile culture with clear metrics to guide investment decisions and broader strategy.
The engineering organization is at the heart of OM1’s mission to improve patient outcomes through an AI-powered approach to Real World Data. The engineering team builds and maintains robust cloud-native infrastructure with a heavy emphasis on automation, infrastructure-as-code, and robust tooling to maximize velocity while operating in a highly secure and regulated environment. The team is open and collaborative, working across teams and departments to develop the best solutions for customers. The team embraces change, including adopting new architectural approaches, integrating generative AI in their workflow and within the product, and staying ahead of the latest industry trends.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly manage senior engineering leaders (managers and directors)
- Lead a global team of engineers across multiple time zones and geographies
- Coach and mentor managers and directors to develop their leadership capabilities and grow their teams
- Recruits, hires, and trains new employees
- Handles performance management and evaluations in accordance with company policy
What You'll Do at OM1
- Define and execute the engineering strategy to meet organizational goals. Drive sprint-by-sprint operations while translating business strategy into a quarter-by-quarter roadmap
- Structure and grow a cohesive engineering organization with clear ownership, purpose, and accountability across teams
- Inspire greatness across teams, grow world-class talent, and continually improve company culture. Attract, develop, and retain top talent while fostering an exceptional engineering brand
- Guide architecture and technology strategy, ensuring a secure, scalable, and efficient cloud-native infrastructure managed through robust automation and infrastructure-as-code
- Oversee Agile engineering operations to deliver high-quality software products and services. Ensure alignment with product goals and cross-functional teams
- Develop dashboards, analyses, and forecasts from raw metrics and operational data sources
- Ensure the organization operates effectively within a regulated environment (e.g., GxP, 21 CFR Part 11) and complies with security standards such as SOC-2
- Stay ahead of emerging technology trends, including Generative AI. Lead the adoption of new tools and methods to improve efficiencies and integrate AI capabilities into OM1’s offerings
- Build strong vendor partnerships to support the organization’s technical needs, including managing vendor onboarding and renewals
- Partner with product, operations, and leadership teams to align engineering objectives with broader organizational goals
What Experience You'll Bring
- 15+ years of experience in engineering roles, with at least 8 years in senior leadership positions
- Proven ability to manage engineering organizations, including managers and directors, across multiple countries and time zones
- Experience and best practices for building diverse teams and inclusive environments that create a sense of belonging
- Deep hands-on expertise in cloud-native environments, infrastructure as code, and automation
- Substantial experience leading Agile processes and delivering structured engineering operations
- Hands-on skills with data tools like SQL for developing dashboards, analyses, and forecasts
- Deep understanding of product and engineering operations, balancing sprint execution with strategic planning
- Experience operating in a highly secure environment with PHI or other sensitive data, compliant with HIPAA, SOC-2, or other frameworks
- Proven ability to build and scale engineering organizations, coach leaders, and foster a collaborative culture
- Track record of adopting and integrating emerging technologies, including Generative AI
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences, including executive leadership and customers

- Experience integrating with healthcare provider institutions, such as FHIR or HL7
