Job Title: Literacy / Low Beginner ESOL Instructor - Remote | WFH
Job Overview
We are in search of a dedicated and enthusiastic ESOL Instructor to become an integral part of our team, supporting the language acquisition of Afghan women through a vibrant community initiative. The successful candidate will possess experience instructing a diverse set of adult learners and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the distinctive obstacles encountered by immigrants and refugees.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver in-person literacy and beginner ESOL classes concentrating on reading, writing, conversation, pronunciation, and grammar for approximately 6-12 adult learners.
- Evaluate students’ language abilities and customize lessons to address their individual needs.
- Create and execute an engaging ESOL curriculum that promotes both language proficiency and cultural awareness.
- Foster an environment for active conversation practice in each session to enhance students’ speaking and listening capabilities.
- Collaborate with case managers and program managers to ensure students receive holistic support.
- Utilize or develop resources related to employment, wellness, and acculturation to enrich the learning experience.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in the English language.
- Experience in teaching ESOL at the literacy and beginner levels, with the capability to support learners from various backgrounds and skill levels.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and TESOL/TESL/TEFL certification.
- Prior experience working with immigrant or refugee populations is highly regarded.
