UMass Dartmouth, a thriving public research university and critical engine of social mobility located on Massachusetts’ Southcoast, invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS). Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Dean is the leader of the College, overseeing a vibrant academic enterprise that serves roughly 1850 undergraduate students in 20+ majors and approximately 200 graduate students in 26 programs each year, as well as more than 500 online students. The Dean leads, supports and advocates for a talented and diverse faculty of dedicated scholars and teachers, comprised of 114 tenure-line faculty and 114 full- and part-time teaching faculty in 20 academic departments. The faculty are also actively engaged in multiple interdisciplinary programs such as Data Science (BS & MS) and Engineering and Applied Sciences (PhD). The College also encompasses the School of Education, the Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture, the Center for Indic Studies, the Center for Scientific Computing and Data Science Research, the Kaput Center for Research & Innovation in STEM Education, the Ora M. DeJesus Gerontology Center, and the Arnold M. Dubin Labor Education Center.

The ideal candidate will hold a doctorate or terminal degree in an appropriate academic discipline and have a distinguished academic record with qualifications and experience that warrant tenure and appointment at the rank of Professor in a CAS department. The individual will bring significant administrative experience, outstanding communication skills, authenticity, self-confidence balanced with humility, integrity of the highest order, a positive solutions-based approach to problem-solving, and a clear understanding of the challenges facing today's modern university.
This is a full-time position that will be performed on-site in Massachusetts. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $220,000 - $260,000 and will include a generous benefits package.
