The Town of Falmouth is very pleased to open the search for our first part-time Bilingual Clinical Social Worker. This position works up to 8 hours per week with schedule flexibility to include some evening and occasional weekend hours. Additional hours may be available during the first six months.
Under the direction of the Director of Human Services, this position provides community outreach and social work services to Portuguese-speaking members of the community, including counseling, case management, advocacy, and referrals. One evening a week, our part-time Bilingual Clinical Social Worker will provide drop-in referral services.
This position will also promote the assistance available from the Human Services Department to our Portuguese-speaking community members and assist in program development and community organizing activities. Our Bilingual Clinical Social Worker will also engage in community networking and may serve on local and regional committees to enhance human service programs and services for citizens from diverse ethnicities, cultures, and languages.
Other functions may include assisting in the development of policies and procedures relating to multi-lingual clinical services and agency programs, developing in-service training programs for staff and other Town departments, and participating in the assessment of human service agencies’ requests for municipal funding. Our Bilingual Clinical Social Worker may perform crisis intervention for Portuguese-speaking persons at risk of harm to self or others as needed.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field and five (5) years of experience in providing counseling and case management services and a diverse range of social work. Experience in community organizing preferred. LICSW or LMHC required (LICSW preferred). Portuguese fluency required; Portuguese and Spanish speaking preferred. Must have a valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license. Successful applicants will have extensive knowledge of laws pertaining to counseling and confidential medical records, knowledge of referral resources, strong communication and outreach skills, and demonstrated community organizing experience.
Expected Starting Rate of Pay: $41.71/hour to $46.12/hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a non-benefited position. Temporary funding has been provided for this part-time position for three fiscal years, and the Town may recommend continued funding in response to a demonstrated need for the services of this position. During the initial three years of funding, this position will work with the Human Services Director to identify the needs that this position is uniquely qualified to address and provide data to show the impact of this position’s services to the community.
