Preceptors qualify to participate in the Post-BS Doctor of Pharmacy pathway by meeting and adhering to standards set by the MCPHS University Experiential Education Department and the Directors of the Post BS Doctor of Pharmacy pathway. A preceptor takes on the role of teacher. A preceptor for Post-BS Doctor of Pharmacy program must recognize that students in the program are licensed working professionals and have practical experience. This role is performed in the distance education setting by reviewing and providing written feedback for multiple written cases each semester.
A preceptor must support students by:
Maintaining communication electronically using MCPHS University email
Reviewing expectations with students, motivating students, and providing evaluation and written feedback on an ongoing, timely, basis.
A preceptor must support course coordinators by:
Reviewing program structure and requirements.
Reviewing course materials each semester, including the syllabus, to obtain due dates of the required competencies and communication project.
Maintaining communication with the course coordinators
Informing director and course coordinator about scheduling conflicts or extended periods of absence.
Informing director and course coordinator of inactive students or students at risk of failing at any point during the semester.
Informing director and course coordinator of any suspected academic dishonesty among students.
Emailing student grades to the course coordinator by requested due date.

Required
A Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
Minimum of 1 year experience in a clinical setting.
Experience in an academic environment, preferred.
Operate personal computer and software.
Experience using computer software programs including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills, attentive to detail.
Clear and courteous oral and written communication skills.
Ability to assign priorities to work request.
Proficiency in the use of technology and experience with a course or learning management system, preferably Blackboard
