Job Summary
The Director of Operations directs manufacturing and logistics activities to ensure Northeast Alternatives delivers the award-winning, high-quality products our customers expect while maintaining the most efficient cost structure. The Director of Operations is accountable for meeting production schedules within budget. This includes responsibility for all day-to-day manufacturing operations, including production planning, manufacturing, and packaging of high-quality products. They will do this while driving continuous quality and process improvements necessary to achieve the operational goals and business priorities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day aspects of operations, oversee scheduling, training, production planning, and logistics
- Meet all Profit & Loss (P&L) budget categories, metrics, and overall facility margin contribution. Drive the overall financial performance of the facility by utilizing reporting tools and implementing strategies/tactics designed to improve financial performance.
- Work the S&OP process with the sales and supply chain team to translate product demand, growth, trends, and operational constraints into a functional Production Schedule.
- Work with Supply Chain to maintain inventory levels of key manufacturing components and facilitate the flow of raw materials from cultivation to manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with all manufacturing SOPs, review processing metrics, and work to improve efficiencies. Ensure quality assurance standards and metrics are maintained.
- Work with the executive team to facilitate commercialization of new products.
- Be present at the facilities to effectively coach and support manufacturing teams.
- Ensure manufacturing environments are brand-appropriate (i.e., positive, reassuring, energetic, encouraging, educational, and welcoming).
- Ensure operational priorities, processes, and procedures are communicated, understood, and appropriately implemented throughout the operation.
- Ensure the cost-effective manufacturing of quality, pharma-grade cannabis products.
- Work closely with the executive team and all applicable staff members in the planning of manufacturing CAPEX projects.
- Strategize, coordinate and execute all capital improvement projects.
- Work with Compliance to monitor and maintain proper manufacturing compliance controls with all state regulations.
- Develop protocols with bill of materials (BOM) and standard costing.
- Lead production and operational management teams to ensure collaboration and cross-departmental efficiencies.
Qualifications
Supervise 25 or more associates in an FDA controlled, SQF or cGMP production environment. Management experience in a heavily regulated industry; in depth understanding of compliance standards. Experience in the cannabis industry. A high-touch, credible, hands on, visible leader. Demonstrated track-record in team building, open communication, collaboration, and driving operational efficiencies. Lean manufacturing or six sigma knowledge is a plus. Outstanding people skills, organizational skills, and a passionate leadership style. Start-up experience is a plus. A sense of urgency, high energy, and hands-on approach. Ability to pass a CORI background check. A current driver’s license is required.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
2-5 years’ experience in cannabis. 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing and logistics. Knowledge of inventory control, production operations, packaging operations, order management, performance metrics, costs, and other manufacturing techniques. Possess sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, initiative, and attention to detail.

Direct Reports
Oversees multiple departments including Cultivation, Post Harvest, Kitchen, Packaging, Distribution, and Maintenance.
Physical Requirements
- Constant movement and use of hands/fingers and limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
- Occasional lifting, positioning, or moving items up to 50 pounds.
- Working conditions: may be exposed to dust, kief, cleaning chemicals, and fumes. Although systems are in place to remove these byproducts, there is still exposure to some degree.

Job Type: Full-time Pay: $150,000.00 - $190,000 per year + variable bonus plan based on KPIs.
