Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and scientifically driven summer intern to join us and contribute to process development in eGenesis. The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of molecular biology, is interested in learning how genes work, and desires to solve the real life problem of organ shortage. This is an excellent opportunity to practice cell biology, molecular biology, and next generation sequencing, contributing to advancing xenotransplantation to clinical reality.
Primary Responsibilities
Derive cells from porcine biopsy samples
Extract genomic DNA from biopsy samples and cultured cells
Perform polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and next generation sequencing (NGS)
Interpret genotype of porcine donors
Perform flow cytometric analysis to examine gene expression
Prepare cell culture media and common stock reagents
Adhere to laboratory safety guidelines
Basic Qualifications
Rising sophomore, junior, senior college student with classes in cell biology, molecular biology, and NGS
Prior research laboratory experience in cell culture, molecular biology, and NGS is highly desirable
Attention to detail and good organization skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Willing to collaborate and contribute to team goals
