Job Description
- Part of an amazing team of pet professionals who communicate with and work with each other to provide the best care for pets whose owners are either at work, busy at home, or on vacation
- Must be comfortable driving from appointment to appointment in all weather, and transport dogs in your car from one location to another
- Pick up and dispose of dog waste and clean up accidents (they happen!)
- Administer medication to pets as needed
- Actively walking and playing with dogs in all weather year round
- Care for and provide enrichment opportunities for cats and other small pets
- Communicate effectively with clients and build a trusting relationship with them as the caretaker of their beloved pets and homes
- Maintain records of walks, including details and pictures of pets for client report at the end of each visit, and provide information for billing purposes.
- Communicate effectively in person and in writing to pet owners, ability to discuss issues that may arise during a visit
Required Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable, insured vehicle
- Must be able to lift 50-100 pounds
- Ability to stoop, crouch, and kneel
- Dependable and honest
- Must be able to walk for majority of a shift
- Comfortable handling most dog breeds, sizes and temperaments (comprehensive training will be provided)
- Strong communication skills
- Must have a smart phone and email access
- Willing to work in all weather conditions
Preferred, but not required
- 1+ years experience working with animals
- Pet First Aid and CPR training
Compensation: hourly, plus mileage and tips
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
