James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn seeks a full-time Aquatics Director who will be responsible for the development, planning and operation of all aquatics programs at the Club. Programs include our swim team, teaching Club members water safety and swim lessons, as well as lifeguarding of free swim and other swim activities.
The Aquatics Director will work under the Clubhouse Program Director to incorporate aquatics programming into our daily Club programming. The Aquatics Director will also support Club members outside of the pool when available in healthy lifestyles and social recreation programming.
The Aquatics Director works Monday through Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This schedule varies slightly depending on the time of year and our program offerings and could include weekend hours. Flexibility in scheduling is preferred.
Primary Responsibilities
Program Oversight and Development
- Responsible for developing and implementing a well-rounded aquatics program for Club members of ages 5-18.
- Fosters healthy lifestyles in members through a variety of program offerings. This includes but is not limited to, coordinating free swimming, safe swimming lessons, and other aquatic activities.
- Works to create innovative and engaging aquatics opportunities that appeal to our diverse Club membership.
- Develop and implement collaborative programs and events with staff members from other departments and community organizations as appropriate. Promote and stimulate member interest in a variety of Club activities and encourage youth to participate in all Club areas.
- Maintain, manage, and seek out new opportunities for collaborative partnerships that ensure member recruitment, retention, and participation in the aquatics department and the Club itself.
- Use electronic tracking software to monitor data and record efforts undertaken by Club members throughout the year.
- Manage and oversee James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn program activity standards as determined yearly by the Clubhouse Program Director.
Program Development and Management
- Hire, train and supervise aquatics staff members, including lifeguards, coaches, and/or instructors.
- Oversees scheduling and assignments of all aquatics staff members.
- Use social media, flyers, calendars, etc., to market programs and encourage regular participation in the aquatics department.
- Oversee the maintenance of the pool, including but not limited to pool chemistry, pool mechanics, climate control, and cleanliness.
Prepare Members for Success
- Establish program objectives that are consistent with organizational goals and mission.
- Support and maintain programs that engage members socially, communally, and physically, and reflect the diversity of Club life.
- Plan and implement day-to-day program activities following established standards and goals.
- Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of fun, engaging activities each day.
Supervise Program Space
- Create and maintain a culture of respect within the programs and program space in collaboration with the youth.
- Manage and enforce effective guidance & discipline policies.
- Ensure that the program area is safe, and that equipment is maintained in good working condition.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
