Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing novel therapeutics for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Head (Director) of Benefits
Madrigal Pharmaceuticals, a commercial-stage biopharma company, seeks an experienced and strategic Director of Benefits to lead their benefits programs. This role reports to the VP of Total Rewards and HR Operations. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive benefits strategy that supports our workforce and aligns with the company’s overall goals. You will collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure our benefits offerings are competitive and compliant and enhance employee experience.
Position Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a forward-thinking benefits strategy that aligns with business objectives and promotes employee engagement and retention
- Program Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and other perks
- Vendor Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with benefits providers and vendors to ensure high-quality service delivery and optimal plan performance
- Market Analysis: Conduct regular market research and benchmarking to keep our benefits offerings competitive and aligned with industry trends
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure all benefits programs comply with country, federal, state, and local regulations; stay informed about changes in laws affecting employee benefits
- Employee Communication: Develop clear and engaging communication materials to inform employees about their benefits options and help them understand the value of their total rewards
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the benefits team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- A passion for benefits and how these contribute to the wellbeing of our employees
- A commercial and creative mindset and an ability to review options through both a short and long-term lens
- A proven track record of strategic planning and benefits program implementation
- Excellent analytical skills with a data-driven, organized approach to decision-making
- Externally connected and up to date with the latest market and industry trends, broad benefits subject manager expert
- Experience with broker and vendor management and optimization
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage employees and stakeholders effectively
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and develop team members
- 10 + years of benefits experience, with international experience as a plus
- Ability to work hands-on and through the domestic and international HR and Total Rewards colleagues
- This role will be based near Boston, MA, with a 3-day hybrid office work arrangement
Compensation:
Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
