New England Pediatric Care: Unit Manager- Days

We have an exciting opportunity for an RN to join our leadership team as the Unit Manager. This position will work directly with the DON to continue to improve our clinical outcomes through direct supervision, guiding, auditing, and providing support to our staff. Candidates must have RN licensure with supervisory and skilled nursing facility experience. All candidates must demonstrate efficiency, dedication to residents and staff, model professionalism at all times and practice active problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Position Summary:
The RN – Unit Manager assists the Director of Nursing (DON) in planning, organizing, developing, and implementing the overall daily operations of the Nursing Services department. The Unit Manager will ensure the highest degree of quality patient care in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. This is a unique position unlike any other due to the population of residents we serve and the ability to provide total care, education and rehabilitation to such a special population of residents. The Unit Manager will work alongside all teams in Coordinating Services including Nursing, Rehabilitation, Day School, Recreation and Young Adult Services.

Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements:

Must be currently licensed/registered in MA or eligible for reciprocity. Must maintain an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing throughout employment.
Two years of skilled nursing facility experience preferred.
Two years of leadership experience.
Must have CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.

Responsibilities

Assist the DON In planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and directing designated unit.
Must have the desire and ability to effectively train and educate nursing staff and other departments as necessary.
Set objectives and long-term goals for designated unit.
Organize and coordinate admission, nursing and patient care procedures.
Develop and enforce policies aiming for legal compliance and high quality standards.
Resolve issues and deficiencies when needed.
Collaborate with other departments and professionals to streamline operations.
Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post-acute care facility.
Work alongside the DON, Administrator and HR Dept. to assist with interviewing, hiring and orienting new nursing staff.
Willingness to keep abreast of changing standards in nursing administration
Excellent ability to lead and develop personnel.
Must perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: nursing care, supervisory responsibilities, infection control, patient rights, and safety and sanitation.
Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
